Slovenia scam in Bucharest

I just learned about an interesting scam in Bucharest. It's both funny and stupid :).

The girl on the left approached the one on the right as she got off her car:

RG: Are you French?

LG cu o voce lesinata: No, no.

RG (confuza): Are you sure? Where are you from?

LG: Slovenia.

The story is designed to elicit sympathy:wB6PU8Pn

or,

Teary-eyed and shaking she claims she’s at the end of the rope. She’s been robbed while injecting herself with insulin – she lifts her skirt up to show me the needle marks. She needs to get to a psychology workshop in Iasi.

LG requests 30 euro and RG eventually gives her 100 RON + 30 RON, but not before taking the photo above together. RG even wrote her name on a piece of paper:

Obviously, the name “IGOR” is a male name and this obsession with umlaut on “O” shows a lack of creativity, to say the least. But it worked, for persuasion is not in facts, but in the delivery.

One remote possibility is that this was a psychology school test, but in that situation, one would expect that the money is returned before the scammer would disappear..
